A 20-year-old North Carolina college student was found dead in her off-campus apartment after she failed to show up to her own birthday party, according to a report.

Christina Maria Matos’ death is now being investigated as a homicide, news station WNCN reported.

Matos, who was enrolled at Wake Tech in Raleigh, was last seen on Friday, which was her 20th birthday, the outlet said.

When she didn’t show up to her own celebration Saturday night, friends grew concerned.

Police found her body while performing a welfare check Sunday night at her apartment, the outlet reported.

“We want to figure out what happened with Christina. We want justice for her,” her mother, Yolanda Matos, told the outlet.

She said her daughter had moved from Clayton to Raleigh about a year ago to attend classes.

“She was a very beautiful girl, and she would just flower, every time happy, joy. She was so hungry for life,” her mother said.
